The United States
Navy has chosen the RQ-8A Fire Scout
as its vertical take-off and landing
tactical unmanned air vehicle (VTUAV).
The system consists of air vehicles,
ground control stations (GCSs), modular
mission payloads (MMPs), data links, remote
data terminals (RDTs), launch and recovery
equipment, and tactical communications
equipment. It is designed to autonomously
take off from and land on any aviation-capable
ship or confined land area, and will provide
the US Navy and US Marine Corps reconnaissance,
situational awareness and precision targeting
support.
Nova Electric’s
rugged COTS Galaxy Series UPS was the
system of choice for the VTUAV, due to
its robust quality and highly reliable
performance. The Nova Electric UPS equipment
is installed inside the shelter (including
both mobile HMMWV and Stationary locations),
and operates all mission-critical equipment.
